Customer Information System
Systems Analysts for the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recognized the current infrastructure was being taxed by the burden of processing 1.3 million utility bills; issuing and monitoring permits and the associated maintenance and inspection scheduling. Additionally, the architects and developers of the original IBM System 360 architecture were retiring.
To evaluate needs and potential solutions, representatives from 12 City of New York City departments (Customer Service, IT, Utility Workers, Finance, etc.) formed a DEP Project Team
The City of New York commissioned their long-time partner IBM as system integrator to architect an updated billing, maintenance, and system infrastructure; dubbed CIS; Customer Information System. To accomplish this; IBM formed a project team.
With guidance from IBM, the City of New York chose solutions from Hansen Information Technologies. During this process; Hansen Information Technologies was acquired by Infor and became Infor Public Sector Asset Management Tools. To execute this implementation Infor/Hansen fielded a project team.
To ensure smooth and timely communications between the 3 project teams with differing agendas, KPMG was chosen as Project Management Quality Control, overseeing the project and ensuring that the City's interests were expressed in the project plan.
